Editorial policy

The rules we hold our own pages to, so you can judge whether to trust them.

Who is responsible

Content is published by the pteexamprep editorial team. We do not name individual authors or reviewers, and we will not invent them. Responsibility sits with the site as a whole, and every page shows the same byline, publish date, update date and the sources it was checked against.

Independence

The site is independent of Pearson and of any test centre, agent, coaching institute or university. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Pearson. Nobody can pay to change what a page says, to be ranked in a list or to remove a correction.

No paid placement

We do not accept payment for reviews, recommendations or links. The site currently shows no advertising. If that ever changes, advertising will be labelled and kept separate from guidance, and this page will say so before it happens.

Official sources only

Facts such as fees, formats, results timelines and visa English requirements come from Pearson, government immigration sites or the institutions concerned. We do not use agents, forums, coaching blogs or social media as the source for a fact, and we do not link to them as evidence. If a fact cannot be confirmed from an official source, we leave it out or mark it as unverified. Details are on the methodology page.

Original questions only

Every practice question is written from scratch for this site. We do not copy real or “leaked” exam questions, prediction files or other sites' question banks, and we never describe our questions as real exam questions or predictions. Our practice scores are estimates, not official scores.

Update dates

Each guide shows when it was published, when it was last updated, and the date we last checked it against its official sources. We change an “updated” date only when the content has really changed, not to make a page look fresh. Fee and visa pages are re-checked on a monthly cycle.

Corrections

If a page is wrong, we correct it in the page itself rather than quietly leaving the error in place, and we update its date. For a material change, such as a changed fee or score requirement, we state in the text what changed. To report a mistake, include the page and the official page showing the right figure; see the contact page.

Written in our own words

We paraphrase official material in original wording, with at most one short quotation per source, and we link to the source instead of copying it.

Practice tools

Our tools aim to be useful and honest about their limits. See how practice scoring works and its limits.
